University of Iowa’s Writers Workshop?

Posted on April 30th, 2010 by admin in writers workshop | 1 Comment »

I’m a writer in high school and I’ve been looking into the famous Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. I’ve heard it’s an excellent program, but I do have a couple questions. First, how difficult is it to get in? Also, has anyone out there been to the Writers’ Workshop? What was it like?
Thanks!

I imagine it’s difficult to get into, as it’s one of the top programs in the country. But you’ve nothing to lose by applying. You might also want to look at UVa’s "Young Writers" program for next summer [too late for this summer] – it’s a very good program, too.

Parkinson’s Unity Walk

Posted on April 29th, 2010 by admin in webcasting | No Comments »

In 1994, the Parkinson’s Unity Walk was created with the goal of raising awareness of Parkinson’s disease and funding for research. The Parkinson’s Unity Walk has since grown into an annual event at which the entire Parkinson’s community gathers. Since the inception, the Parkinson’s Unity Walk has made a significant impact on the Parkinson’s disease community, raising millions of dollars for Parkinson’s research. Support for the walk has grown considerably each year – from 200 participants at the first walk in 1994, to more than 10,000 last year. With 100 percent of donations given to research, the Parkinson’s Unity Walk provides the public with an opportunity to help the Parkinson’s disease community and change the lives of the millions of people suffering from the disease.

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological condition that has the potential to be a devastating and debilitating disease. It affects more than one million Americans and approximately 60,000 new cases of Parkinson’s disease are diagnosed each year.

Although there is no known cure for this disease, experts agree that there are a variety of ways to keep its symptoms under control, including medication and exercise. The Unity Walk provides the opportunity for people with Parkinson’s disease and their families to become educated on these therapies by talking to physicians, pharmaceutical companies and PD organizations.

The Unity Walk is an exciting way to bring the entire Parkinson’s community together and with your help we can make each coming year even better!

Help us get one step closer to finding a cure. For more information regarding the Parkinson’s Unity Walk and Parkinson’s disease visit www.unitywalk.org.

Posted on April 28th, 2010 by admin in how to webcast | 3 Comments »

I need help because i want to be famous online and if you are going to say something mean then shut up and don’t even think about clicking and helping so that you can get yahoo points!!! if you answer this question the way I am hoping to have been answered… I for sure will pick you to be one of my first best answers!!!

how about you just learn how to do all of the computer stuff yourself. and by the way if you do find someone to do all of your computer stuff for you i would recommend that you don’t call him/her a computer geek.

What is the best book that can help me to market my fantasy novel?

Posted on April 28th, 2010 by admin in writers market | 1 Comment »

Is it Writers Market 2008, or its previous years?(Cause some says this year,s edidition is very disappointing…)

Based on this question and your other one about writing a series I can tell that you are VERY new to the business. You have a LONG way to go before you start querying agents or publishers. Read the links in the About Me section in my profile and read all of my starred questions. You have a lot of learning to do. Better get started.
